Dr. Awad has nearly 35 years of experience in the construction industry. He received his BS in Civil engineering, and MS in Structural Engineering from Cairo University. He received MS in Construction Management from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Ahmed then earned his PhD in Construction Management at Wayne State University.

Currently, Awad serves as a Manager of Project Mangers in DTE Energy, managing principal, senior, and project managers, managing large size projects in different portfolios such as GAS, Renewable, Facilities, Information Technologies, Fossil Generations, and Distribution Operations Projects.

Dr. Awad also has been serving as an Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University since 1998, teaching different types of construction management project, including Construction Project Scheduling, Construction Cost Estimating, Construction Accounting & Financial Management, Construction Integrated Management, and Construction Contract Administration Classes.  In addition, Ahmed has been serving in several advisory committees for PhD students at Wayne State University. Ahmed has extensive experience in construction contract change management and claims.

Before DTE Energy, Ahmed used to work as a Project Control Manager at AECOM company (previously known as URS), ranked #1 in Transportation and General Building in Engineering News-Record’s 2019 “Top 500 Design Firms” and named one of Fortune magazine's "World's Most Admired Companies" for the fifth consecutive year. Ahmed is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by Project Management Institute (PMI).

Ahmed has also has hold several leadership positions in non-profit Middle eastern organizations located in greater Detroit serving people of colors in different aspects utilizing his project management and teaching skills.
