Raed Amro
Raed Amro is assistant professor at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) in Hebron/Palestine. He received his high diploma degree in electrical engineering from university of Saarland/Germany. He obtained his Ph.D. also in electrical engineering from Chemnitz University of Technology/Germany. The dissertation theme was in the reliability of modern power electronics devices.
From 2007 till 2010 he was the chairman of the department of Electrical Engineering at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) in Hebron.
From 2010 till 2014 he filled the position as dean of college of engineering at PPU.
From July/2021 till August/2024 Dr. Amro occupied the position of vice-president for academic affairs at PPU.
His research interests include reliability investigation and life-time estimation of modern power electronics devices, alternative energy systems and engineering education. Dr. Amro has more than 18 publications in English, German and Arabic languages in these fields.
Additional to his experience in administration of educational institutions, Dr. Amro has experience in teaching and curricula developing of many electrical courses for undergraduate and graduate levels (like programmable logic control PLC, electrical power systems protection, power electronics, and basic electrical courses for non-electrical engineering students, etc.).
Dr. Amro was from 2014 till 2020 member of the steering committee of PALGER project and the contact person for the Palestinian side. PALGER is a mutual project between German ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Palestinian ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research aiming to support the research cooperation between Germany and Palestine
Since Febr. 2016 Dr. Amro is a by the International Youth Foundation (IYF) certified trainer for life- and communication skills.
Dr. Amro speaks English and German fluently and has level A2 in French (DELF A2 certificate)
Dr. Amro is also a certified German-Arabic translator.
