Under the direction of Japanese Professional Engineers and the Project Manager,
and as part of my Engineering training within the company, I was responsible to
participate in all Civil Engineering work at the construction site of Yanbu Oil
Refinery (Yanbu Sea-Port Western of Saudi Arabia). During my training I was reporting
directly to the supervisor of each department about the daily Engineering activities
and the accomplished stages of the project. Duties include the following:
- Securing the necessary pre-design engineering data such as topographic mapping and surveying,
- Site investigation, Soil sampling and testing, preparation of Geotechnical reports,
- Drainage study and environmental assessment studies and reports.
- Attending and participating in design review meetings
- Quality control and identification of performance criteria of the cnstruction materials,
such as testing of aggregates, asphalt and concrete mixes to insure that they meet the specifications.
- Design and construction of the foundation structural members of the heavy oil steel tanks and power generators.
- Supervising the erection process of all heavy steel tanks, pipe lines and power generators and reporting to the Civil Engineering Manager.
- Participating in the design, construction of local roads at the refinery site.
- Participating in the design and construction of the steel terminal buildings.
- Supervising the process of Fire protection coating for all steel members including oil tanks, pipe lines and the steel terminal buildings
